Peer Sorensen has been making
wooden chopping boards for over 40
years. Founded in 1981, originally
these boards were made from
precious Tasmanian hardwoods. With
the change of times, and to minimise
the impact on the environment, the
boards are now made from relatively
fast-growing hardwoods and bamboo.
WHY TIMBER?
Wood is an ideal material for cutting
boards and serving boards. Timber is
gentler on knife blades than glass or
stone and with inherent anti-bacterial
properties, is more hygienic than
plastic. Peer Sorensen timber boards
are durable to endure knocks and
bumps and withstand daily household
use for years on end.

require relatively low maintenance.
The dense fibres keep water out so
they are less likely to warp or crack
and like other woods, the bamboo
exhibits antibacterial properties.
Bamboo grows fast, so when properly
sourced, is a highly renewable
